We, Dutch Cities of Learning, support making a fair, green, and prosperous future for everyone, together with the EU.

From May 9th, Europe Day, until the European elections, we'll have activities to help citizens' initiatives and share ideas for closer EU-citizen collaboration.

Eurocities suggests:
1. Encouraging people to walk, cycle, or use public transport.
2. Making sure everyone, including those with disabilities, can easily use city transportation.
3. Working towards cleaner air by reducing harmful emissions.
4. Supporting new ideas for better urban mobility, like electric cars and smart transport systems.
5. Listening to what people need and adjusting transportation plans.
6. Building safe roads and bike paths.
7. Reducing traffic accidents.
8. Making cities more attractive for pedestrians and cyclists.
9. Using technology to improve city transportation.
10. Working with the EU to enhance urban mobility.

If you want to learn more, read "A better mobility starts in cities."

In the badge, you'll find ideas on how to contribute to one of these recommendations. Be proactive and choose ways that fit you to help create a fair, green, and prosperous future for everyone.

Here are a few ways you can contact the government as a citizen:
1. Governments often have meetings where citizens can talk about their ideas and concerns. This could be a public meeting or a special workshop.
2. Many governments have websites and social media where they share information about their plans and projects. You can ask questions and share your thoughts there.
3. Some governments have councils of citizens that give advice. If you want to take part, you can see if your town or city has one.
4. You can always send an email or write a letter to the government to share your ideas or ask questions.
5. If you want to make a change, you can start a petition or join a campaign. This way, you can get other people involved and let the government know what matters to you.
By using these ways, you can share your voice and be part of the decisions that are made.

Tasks
Task no.1
Evidence verified by: self-approved
Task: Talk to people in the city about how they prefer to travel when going somewhere, like taking the bus, walking, or biking. Listen to what they say about why they don't choose other ways to travel. Then, briefly share what you learned from this task.

Goal: Understand why people don't use the bus or bike more often and use this information to think about how we can help them travel in a more sustainable way.
Task no.2
Evidence verified by: self-approved
Task: Plan a small meeting in the neighborhood to talk about cars that don't emit harmful gases and why it's important to have places to charge them. Then, briefly share what you learned from this task.

Goal: Get people from the neighborhood to discuss how we can have more cars that don't pollute. This is to encourage more people to use eco-friendly transportation in the city.
Task no.3
