Join over 50 youth workers from countries including Belgium, Curaçao, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Romania, Slovenia, Spain and Portugal. Exchange ideas, discover new possibilities for youth work, and explore how digital badges can support young people's development.

What is youth work in Europe?
Youth work in Europe takes place through “learning outside school” and offers young people the opportunity to develop knowledge, skills and attitudes in an non-formal and hands-on way. Although the specific tasks and practices of youth work may vary from country to country and region to region, there are some common goals and principles:
Target group: Young people between the ages of 16 and 30.
Diverse backgrounds: Youth workers work with young people from all walks of life, from different cultural backgrounds and with diverse interests and needs.

What are Open Badges
Many of the international youth workers present at this event are actively using Open Badges. Open Badges are digital badges that reveal a person's skills, experiences or achievements. They are like digital certificates that can be displayed online or on a resume. Unlike traditional certificates, Open Badges are verifiable: anyone can verify that the badge is real and what it represents.

Badges can be used for more than just verifying skills and achievements. They can also be used to:
Motivate people: by providing recognition and rewards for progress and achievements.
Show participation: to demonstrate involvement in specific programs or activities.
Recognize membership: to indicate membership in organizations or communities.
Onboarding: to help new employees or young people learn their roles and responsibilities well. Onboarding is the process of introducing new employees or youth to an organization or project.
